Google Ads or Meta Ads: which one fits your next goal

One catches demand, the other creates it. Choose by intent, creative, and economics, not by where your competitor spends.

The one-sentence difference

Google Ads catches people who are already searching for what you sell. Meta Ads puts your offer in front of people who weren't looking but match your customer profile. Catching demand versus creating it. Everything else follows from that.

When Google fits first

A fictional example: a plumber bidding on burst pipe repair meets a customer at the exact moment of need. No amount of scrolling-feed creative beats that timing.

  • People search for your service with clear intent: emergency plumber, facial near me, personal injury lawyer.
  • Your customer decides quickly once they find a credible option.
  • You can answer the phone or follow up the same day.

When Meta fits first

A fictional example: a med spa launching a new treatment has nothing to catch on search because nobody knows the treatment's name. Meta's targeting and a good before-the-visit explainer build that awareness.

  • Your offer is visual or new, so nobody searches for it yet.
  • You have photos or video that honestly show the result.
  • Your margins support paying to build demand over weeks, not days.

The three questions that decide it

First: does anyone search for this? Type your service into Google like a customer would. Real results with ads mean real demand. Second: what creative do you actually have? Meta without decent visuals burns money politely. Third: what are the economics? A $60 service needs a cheap lead; a $6,000 project can afford an expensive one.

Run one channel properly before adding the second. The management fee is separate from your ad budget on both platforms, and neither channel guarantees results; the data tells you whether to scale or stop.
